HOW TO PLAY VIDEO

STILL HERE? WE'VE
 GOT YOU COVERED!

Setup

Prefer reading? We got you. Connect the 5 rims to each other to complete a circle. Flip the rim over and snap each of the 5 legs into a rim.

Flip your set right-side-up and attach the net to the rims. Connect the netting to 4-5 hooks around the entire rim to keep tension, and then go around to hook the net to each hook in between.

The net should be consistently taut across the entire net, allowing the ball to easily bounce, without straining yourself to make it overly tightened.

You can use the included court measuring line to paint a 7 foot serving line around the whole net.

Serving

Flip a coin / rock paper scissors to determine who serves first.

The server gets 2 attempts every point (like Tennis). If they fault on the 2nd serve, it's the other team's point. Faults include:

  • Missing the netHitting the rim
  • Side pockets
  • High Serve
  • Double Bounce

The receiving team MAY play through a fault. They have until the 2nd teammate touches the ball to stop the play.

Serving Order:

You keep serving until your team looses a point, and then a player from the other team will serve. Once your team scores another point, your teammate will be up next to serve. If your team serves AND scores, then you and your teammate will swap starting spots so that you serve to a new opposing player.

Scoring

Games can be played to 11, 15, or 21, win by 2.

A point is scored when a team fails to return the ball back to the net within 3 hits (hitting the rim does NOT count); the ball cannot double bounce on the net.

Movement and Hindered Plays

After the serve, players can move in 360° around the net, but the defensive team must get out of the way of the offense. If the offense is hindered by the defense, they can call a "hinder." If the hinder was unavoidable, you will simply replay the point. If the defense COULD have gotten out of the way but didn't, the offense wins the point.

If the ball hits a player on the wrong team mid-rally, it is only a hinder if the offensive team had a probably chance of making a controlled hit. However, if a player hits the ball on the net and it goes directly into their teammate, the other team wins the point regardless.

If at any point a plaver touches the net, the play is dead and the other team wins the point.

Legal Touches

You are allowed to hit the ball with any body part, but it must "bounce" off without grabbing the ball. Slight carries are allowed, but you cannot "catch and throw."Teammates must alternate touches, and you are allowed to hit back on the net on your team's first, second, or third hit.

Extra Tips to Learn Faster

New games always have a bit of a learning curve, here are a few ideas to get playing faster:

  • Be patient! Spend the first 5-10 minutes just hitting the ball around, get a feel for it and how to control the ball.
  •  Learn to pass! Don't only practice hitting the ball on the net, but pass back and forth to your teammate (underhand is recommended). Nobody likes to play with a teammate who always hits the ball back on the net on the 1st hit.
  • Call out "bump, set, spike" with each team's hits. This helps players remember to use all 3 hits and pass to their teammate.
  • Move your feet! Don't stand back waiting for a pass, but move towards the net so your teammate knows you want them to pass it to you. It's easier to spike the ball when you are right next to the net rather than 6 feet away.
